To mark the Year of China, Musée Guimet presents a breathtaking installation by visual artist Jiang Qiong Er in collaboration with ATHEM. On the green terrace, a monumental woven metal net stretches above the museum roof, embroidered with poetic words from sixty Chinese women. Inspired by nu shu, the world’s only female-created writing system, this artwork weaves their collective voices into a powerful tapestry of poetry and grace.

Where function meets imagination

Challenge

The goal was to create a large-scale installation that merged artistic expression with architectural precision. The structure needed to be visually poetic yet technically strong enough to span across the museum’s rooftop terrace.

Solution

Using Redfort’s Lalace net, the team developed a woven metal fabric that could carry both strength and subtlety. The custom mesh design allowed artist Jiang Qiong Er to “embroider” poetic words into the material, creating a floating artwork that balanced transparency and structure.

Product

The result is a monumental Lalace installation that transforms the Musée Guimet rooftop into a canvas of collective voices. Combining engineering with art, the woven net embodies the harmony between cultural storytelling and architectural design.
